Mohammed Siraj made headlines again in Adelaide after he bid a fiery farewell to Travis Head on the second day of the Pink Ball Test between India and Australia. The incident took place when Siraj picked up Head for 140, uprooting the stumps of the left-hander as the Australian innings was ending.
After getting the wicket, though, they both seemed to have been embroiled in a verbal duel, as per Siraj’s words for sending off Head, who in turn gave it back to the pacer. But that wasn’t the end of the drama as the Adelaide crowd rallied behind the Centurions, booing Siraj for the verbal spat.
The umpires were informed of a crowd reaction when Siraj had a word with them after the incident.
Travis Head gives headache to Indians:
Head was out in the 82nd over of the match but by that time much of the damage had been done well as the Australians extended their lead over 100 runs in the match. Head arrived at the crease at a moment when the Aussies were not looking great, with the Indian bowlers cleaning up Nathan McSweeney and then Steve Smith on day two.
Head, however, was unfazed by the conditions as he built a partnership with Marnus Labuschagne and then Alex Carey, reaching his hundred off only 109 balls. The Aussies were finally dismissed for 337, 157 runs ahead of India’s first innings score of 180.
